Arsenal fans react to Santi Cazorla’s highlights for Villarreal vs Sevilla

Santi Cazorla is always an emotional football topic for Arsenal fans.

The Spaniard enjoyed the finest years of his career in north London, but injury issues in the final few seasons of his stay resulted in him departing the club this summer.

Cazorla’s last game for Arsenal was in the 6-0 thrashing of Ludogrets in the Champions League back in October 2016.

That Achilles injury would keep him out the game for nearly two years, with surgery and infection nearly costing him his career and the ability to even walk.

Arsenal decided not to offer him a new deal despite his return to fitness and he has since moved back to Spain with former club Villarreal.

Cazorla played 73 minutes in the Yellow Submarine’s 2-1 opening weekend defeat to Real Sociedad and was again given the nod for the trip to Sevilla on Sunday evening.

The former Spanish international managed another 79 minutes and his highlight reel from the game has really got Arsenal fans talking.

The footage was uploaded to Twitter by @afcDW and the replies to the post tell you everything you need to know.

VIDEO: CAZORLA ON THE COMEBACK TRAIL

Just like the Cazorla we saw week in week out when he first arrived on English soil. Gliding past players, demonstrating his ambidexterity and showcasing some beautiful passing.

Arsenal are in desperate need of someone like the Spaniard to set the tempo in midfield and keep a composed head when being pressed.

So it’s no wonder that Gunners supporters are asking for him to return in the comment section on the tweet.

ARSENAL FANS WANT SANTI BACK

It has to be remembered that Sevilla away is also one of the toughest trips a La Liga team can make and Cazorla still showed his class.

He will always go down as one of Arsenal’s greatest bargains, with Arsene Wenger snapping him up from Malaga in 2012 for a fee below £15m.

And after seeing Granit Xhaka’s struggles so far in 2018/19, maybe the Gunners ended Cazorla’s stay a little early.

Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira surely would have benefitted having the Spaniard around.
