Arsene Wenger reveals what he said to Mesut Ozil after Everton 2-5 Arsenal
Arsenal won away from home in the Europa League on Thursday night, while Everton lost at Goodison Park, and neither of those things changed on Sunday.
The Gunners recovered from a superb Wayne Rooney strike to thrash Everton 5-2 on Merseyside and get back to winning ways in the Premier League after the defeat at Watford.
Nacho Monreal, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez all got on the scoresheet, but one player stood out in particular and his name is Mesut Ozil.
The 29-year-old, often accused of going missing in games, headed in his first goal of the 2017-18 season before providing an assist for summer signing Lacazette.
Ozil’s display deservedly earned him the man-of-the-match award, and Arsene Wenger has now revealed what he said to his number one playmaker after the big win.
OZIL PUTS IN CLASS PERFORMANCE AT EVERTON
Ozil, recently linked with a move to rivals Manchester United, has struggled with injury issues this term, but his manager feels that the World Cup winner is back to his very best.
“I would say yes. Ozil is back to his best,” Wenger said, via The Express, before opening up about what he told the German after the match.

“I told him after the game that a fit Ozil is completely different. If you’re not 100% at your best, no matter how good you are, you are at a handicap.”
It looks like Wenger, who turned 68 on Sunday, is finally prepared to leave his biggest names out of his starting XI if they are not completely fit or out of form, which is a good sign for Arsenal.
That said, Gunners fans are buzzing over how much damage Ozil, Alexis and Lacazette caused in what was the first time all three started in attack together this season.
