Breaking News: Policemen harassed Me, Shot Teargas At Me – Gov. Fayose Cries Out on National TV, (Videos)
The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday broke down in tears on national TV, continuously wailing, “I am in pains, I am in severe pains”.
Essenceloaded News reported earlier that Gov. Fayose reportedly escaped death in the hands of security operatives who allegedly fired teargas at him.
The security operatives had blocked the government house, in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state, a development which created tension among residents of the area who scuttled to safety.
While speaking with Channels Television after the attack, the governor said that he was in pains after he was slapped, shot at and manhandled by security agents.
Fayose who then broke into tears lamenting said, “I am in pain, I am in severe pain. I can’t turn this neck anymore. If anything happens to me, the Inspector-General of Police should be held accountable,” the governor told reporters while crying at the rally.”
The tears came minutes after he addressed a crowd of PDP supporters, appearing in bandages on his right arm and a neck brace.
He had said; “I call on the international community, Ekiti is under siege. How can I be Governor of Ekiti State and be treated like this in my own country? My people, I call on all of you, stand and remain standing.
“I will go back to the hospital for a while to rest. I am having a lot of pains, but I prefer to bear these pains because of you. I prefer to bear these pains because of you.”
Earlier, Lere Olayinka, the Governor’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, took to his verified Twitter page and disclosed that his principal lost consciousness and was taken to Government House clinic after policemen fired teargas canisters into the Government House.
He wrote: “Gov Fayose, a few minutes ago escaped plot to assassinate him by Fayemi and his APC. He is currently receiving treatment at govt house clinic after he was hit by teargas canister fired by the policemen. The armed policeme still laying siege at the Govt House.”
While also speaking live on Channels TV, Olusola Kolapo, Fayose’s deputy and the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, said afterwards that he was assaulted in his shoulder region by the policemen while his boss was also beaten.
Both claims by the governor, his aide as well as his deputy, were not verified by Essenceloaded TV News as at the time of filing this report.
