The joint EU-UN Spotlight Initiative in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, has set up a National data situation room on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Nigeria.

 

The National GBV Situation Room and Data Dashboard is an innovative data visualization platform, which allows decision-makers and program managers to analyze and view GBV data in real-time. It will act as a hub for GBV Data in Nigeria, In response to the widespread incidents of Violence against women and girls, harmonization of data on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, strengthen coordination and programming in the country. It is a novel intervention for the Government of Nigeria and the first of its kind in the country.

The launch of the National Gender-Based Violence data situation room aims to address these gaps in quality data to enable appropriate access to timely collation, validation, analysis, dissemination, and to support policy and decision making to end GBV in Nigeria.

 

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with Population Council and other CSOs have set up the National GBV Data Situation Room , an innovative data management and visualization platform that fulfils the spotlight Pillar 5 mandate of “Ensuring availability of quality data and use in gender-based violence response”.

In Nigeria, the Spotlight Initiative is being implemented in six states including Adamawa, Cross River, Ebonyi, Lagos, Sokoto, and the FCT.

 

UNDP is implementing Spotlight Initiative in Nigeria, working with partners to strengthen institutions, policies and data availability to end violence against women and girls.
