TECNO Camon X Pro Unboxing And First Impressions
TECNO’s latest smartphone is the successor to the 2017 Camon CX. Named Camon X, probably in a bid to keep up with the fruity phone, this new Camon brings the usually expected camera flair on top of a new design that we saw debut with the Camon CM back in January.
Before we proceed, here’s what is included in the box:
- The Phone
- A USB Cable
- A wall charger
- Phone Case
- User Manual
The Camon X comes wrapped in a polycarbonate unibody design, with a 6-inch Full HD display in the modern 18:9 aspect ratio. The internals include 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage on the Pro variant and 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage on the standard version. There’s a MediaTek Helio P23 Processor, a 24MP selfie shooter coupled up with a 16MP main camera, Android 8.1 Oreo on board and a 3750mAh battery keeping all the components juiced.
Being modern has not only been accomplished through the name and “full-display” design but also through some software features such as face unlock that we have seen pop up ever since Apple made the feature cool with the iPhone X. Camon X’s face unlock feature has been claimed to be “superfast”, TECNO even says that the Face ID feature is “more functional than the fingerprint scanner”. From our initial experience, the TECNO’s Face ID is so fast, it’s mind blowing consequently casting doubt on how secure it is.
The Camon series is well-known for their camera performance and the Camon X does not fall short. TECNO says that the device produces 30% better images over the Camon CX thanks to its dual ISP (Image Signal Processor), “which can process actions a lot faster as both processors work synchronously together.”
TECNO also says that the Camon X performs 20% better in shooting low-light images compared to the previous Camon. The Camera is not only bundled with a lot of unverified percentages but also features neat tricks such as portrait mode that blurs the background leaving the subject well in focus and a super pixel mode that combines multiple photos into one huge 60MP canvas when you hit the shutter button.
Sadly, TECNO has not seen it necessary to add a second lens on the Camon X, neither has the company included a Pro mode within the camera app despite the device launching with a new version of HiOS, version 3.3.
Price and Availabilty
TECNO did not disclose how much the Camon X would ask from your wallet but the device will be available in shop as from mid-April and we don’t think it will cost anything more then N90,000 We have an unboxing and first impressions video that you can watch below:
